Terms of Service

The rules for using Pulse for Writers and its hosted account and subscription features.

Who we are

Pulse for Writers is operated by Novala Studios AS, a Norwegian company registered in the Norwegian company registry (organisation number 938261598), with its address at Hestestien 13, 1555 Son, Norway. In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Novala Studios AS.

You can contact us at support@pulseforwriters.com.

Agreement and eligibility

These Terms govern your use of Pulse for Writers. By creating an account or using the hosted service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the hosted service.

You must be legally able to enter this agreement. If you are not, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms for you. If you use the service for an organization, you confirm that you can bind that organization.

The service

Pulse for Writers is a workspace for planning your writing, logging sessions with a timer or by hand, following streaks, projects and statistics, reviewing your progress, and exporting your data. Features may change over time, as described below.

Accounts and security

  • Provide accurate account information and keep it current.
  • Protect your password and sign-in methods, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account unless applicable law says otherwise.
  • Do not transfer, sell, or share account access in a way that compromises the service or another person.

Service license

Subject to these Terms, Pulse for Writers grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for lawful writing and productivity purposes. The service, software, branding, and documentation remain owned by their respective rights holders. No rights are granted except those stated here.

Your content and your data

You retain ownership of writing content and workspace information you submit. You grant Pulse for Writers only the limited permission needed to host, process, transmit, back up, and display that content to operate and secure the service. This permission ends when the content is deleted, subject to routine backups and lawful retention.

You are responsible for your content and confirm that you have the rights needed to use it with the service. Pulse for Writers does not claim ownership of your manuscripts.

You can export all of your workspace data and basic account profile at any time from Account settings, whether or not you have an active subscription, and you can delete your account there. If your account is suspended, you can ask support to export your data.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use the service unlawfully or to violate another person's rights.
  • Do not probe, bypass, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or interfere with security or access controls except where law expressly permits it.
  • Do not introduce malicious code, automate abusive traffic, impersonate others, or use another person's account without permission.
  • Do not resell the service or copy substantial parts of it unless a written agreement allows it.

Subscriptions and billing

These billing terms apply once paid subscriptions are open. Until then, nothing is charged. We will tell current testers before anything changes.

Paid access is sold as a subscription. At the time of writing there are two plans: Monthly at $5 per month and Yearly at $50 per year (two months free compared with paying monthly). There is no free trial. Prices are in US dollars. Paddle calculates and adds any taxes that apply where you live at checkout, and the checkout shows the total before you pay.

Our payment provider and merchant of record is Paddle. The Paddle company named at your checkout, such as Paddle.com Market Limited or Paddle.com Inc., is our authorized reseller and sells the subscription to you. Paddle processes your payment, collects and pays the applicable taxes, issues your receipt or invoice, and handles refunds. Paddle Buyer Terms govern your purchase from Paddle, and these Terms govern your use of Pulse for Writers.

Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period (a month or a year) until you cancel, and you authorize Paddle to charge your payment method for each renewal. If a renewal payment fails, Paddle may try again, and the subscription may be canceled if payment cannot be collected. Keep your payment details up to date.

If we change the price of a plan, we will tell you before your next renewal, and the new price applies only to renewals after that notice. If you do not accept the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect. Where the law requires your consent to a price increase, we or Paddle will ask for it.

Canceling, and when a subscription ends

You can cancel at any time in Account settings > Subscription, where Manage subscription opens the Paddle customer portal, or through the links in your Paddle receipt emails or on paddle.net. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: you keep access until then and are not charged again.

When your subscription ends, your account stays and nothing is deleted. You can still sign in and export all of your workspace data, but editing is locked until you subscribe again. This is the policy that applies once paid subscriptions are open.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel your subscription first; you can delete your account once the subscription shows as canceled or ended (a subscription canceled during a paid period ends when that period ends).

Refunds

You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first purchase. How to ask, how renewals are handled and how long refunds take are set out in the Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Mandatory consumer rights always apply.

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep Pulse for Writers available and reliable, but the service is provided without a guaranteed uptime or support service level unless a separate written agreement says otherwise. Maintenance or events outside reasonable control may interrupt access.

We may change or remove features. Where reasonably possible, we will tell you about significant changes to features included in a paid plan.

Use the workspace export feature and keep independent copies of writing you cannot afford to lose. Offline or local recovery features are conveniences, not guaranteed backups.

Third-party services

Google, Facebook, Paddle, email providers, and other linked services are operated independently. Their terms, privacy notices, availability, and decisions apply to their services. Pulse for Writers is not responsible for third-party services outside its reasonable control.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, address nonpayment, comply with law, or enforce these Terms. We may terminate for a material breach, normally after reasonable notice when the issue can be corrected.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination remain effective, including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions.

Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without implied warranties. Pulse for Writers does not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we (Novala Studios AS) are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, or data. Our total liability to you relating to the service, whether you use it for a fee or free of charge, will not exceed the amount you paid for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, which may be nothing. These limits do not exclude liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for intent or gross negligence, and they do not reduce mandatory consumer rights.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. This does not take away mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of the country where you live, including any right to bring a claim in the courts there. Disputes that mandatory law does not allow you to bring in your local courts are for the courts of Norway.

If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@pulseforwriters.com so we can try to resolve it quickly.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for legal, security, or service changes. Material changes will be identified by a revised Last updated date and, when appropriate, reasonable notice by email or in the service. A change that affects your paid subscription will be notified before your next renewal. Continued use after the change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, you can cancel and stop using the service.

Contact

The current operator identity and support email address appear at the end of these Terms. Contact instructions are provided in the Support Policy.
